|Abstract:||With the proliferation of data, Big Data solutions became a “go-to” term when looking for technologies to handle vast amounts of data. Big data tools include analytics and data base capabilities, targeting different workloads and applications. Understanding the capabilities of each tool and appropriate workload can be challenging. Moreover, connecting Big Data applications with high performance networks such as InfiniBand and 40Gb Ethernet provide a different approach to handle Big Data challenges.
In this session we will cover the different benchmarks used with Big Data applications. we will discuss results acquired by tools such as Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB), Terasort, TestDFSio and others that provide the potential user the understanding of cluster’s capabilities. We also cover several projects of using RDMA in the Big Data applications space and their benefits to the user. We will provide best practices and conclusions of usage. In addition, we will cover our experience with building large clusters for Big Data applications.
