Abstract:   The performance of the central compute units within mobile devices have increased by multiple orders of magnitude while still operating in the sub three watt power budget set by the first Smartphone. With the ARM architecture now supporting 64bit addressing and fully compliant double precision SIMD, is it time to consider ARM technology in HPC? Not only can low power compute bring efficiency savings, the ability to design a system starting with processor, ram and IO balanced for HPC can bring further wins. This talk will provide a recap over the latest ARM compute technologies and then move to discuss some of the techniques, concepts and investigations on-going to demonstrate the promise of mobile compute for HPC.
