Abstract:   This session presents the strategic concepts of the German Gauss Center for Supercomputing for their future move towards a center of competence in the field of high performance computing. An overview talk will cover the strategic approach of how GCS plans to establish a HPC center of excellence to support all of its European users. Talks from the three partner centers will focus on the topical issues for such a center such as neuroscience, engineering, geophysics, low energy computing, and others.
