Stijn De Weirdt

Technical Lead, Central ICT Department, Ghent University

Stijn De Weirdt obtained a Masters degree in Physics from Ghent University (Belgium) in 2004, after which he started working in scientific computing as a system administrator of the grid cluster for the LHC-CMS experiment at VUB (in Brussels). In 2008 he started at Ghent University (in Ghent) as part of the newly formed HPC group within the central ICT department, of which he currently holds the position of technical lead. He is also involved in the Flemish Supercomputer Centre, the collaboration between all Flemish university associations to provide computing services for both research and commercial usage in Flanders. Stijn started the EasyBuild project in 2009, in an attempt to fill the apparent void in flexible tools for building and installing scientific software in an HPC environment.
