Merle Giles

Mr. Giles is a tireless advocate of HPC’s role as an accelerator to innovation. This requires stepping beyond scientific discovery and embracing non-traditional access and engagement models. Along with HLRS, KiSTi, and OSC, NCSA is a founding member of the International Industrial Supercomputing Workshop. Mr. Giles hosted HPC centers from ten countries for the third annual IISW in Champaign, Illinois, USA in June 2012. Giles is also a founding member of NDEMC (National Digital Engineering and Manufacturing Consortium), a public-private partnership serving small and medium manufacturers in the American Midwest. His Private Sector Program (PSP) at NCSA partners with 26 companies in the manufacturing, bio-medical, chemical, tech, oil and gas, and agricultural sectors. His additional NCSA responsibilities include industrial use of Blue Waters, leadership of industry consulting teams, sponsorship of an industry-only supercomputer, and business and economic development.
