Dr. Michael Bussmann

Young Research Group Leader for Computational Radiation Physics, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf

Michael Bussmann received his Diploma in Particle Physics and his PHD in Accelerator Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich before becoming a Postdoctoral Researcher at Helmholtz- Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. Since 2010 he is Young Research Group Leader for Computational Radiation Physics at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. Michael research focuses on understanding fundamental laser-matter physics at extreme intensities and developing laser-driven radiation sources for applications such as radiation therapy of tumors. He uses high-performance computing with new accelerator hardware to simulate light-matter interaction on the atomic level.
