Klaus Wolkersdorfer

Head of HPC Systems, Jülich Supercomputing Center

Klaus Wolkersdorfer is head of the "High-Performance-Computing Systems" division of the Juelich Supercomputer Centre (JSC) within the Institute of Advanced Simulation (IAS) at the Research Center Juelich (FZJ). He is responsible for integrating the wide range of FZJ's supercomputers into a production environment. His research areas are performance optimisation and tuning of large systems. He obtained a masters degree of mathematics and computer science at the University of Erlangen and worked on structured programming and programming languages.
He participated in IBM's World Trade Postdoctoral Program for one year at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center from where he moved to the operating system divison in JSC (which he is now leading).
In 2010 Klaus was chairman of the two "Open Lustre for Linux Workshops" held in Juelich, which later evolved into the foundation of the "European Open File System" (EOFS) organisation. He now is also Vice Chairman of the Administrative Council of EOFS.
